NEW ZEALAND REPORT:

Yes, we have a dealer in New Zealand, so if you are travelling to the Great White Cloud area please drop in and say G’Day at Levin RV Centre. The Townsend famil recently enjoyed a snow packed adventure in their Family Flair. From Snowy Peaks to Scenic Streets, this was their dream trip. Dream Trip!

Daniel & Rebecca Townsend have just returned from an unforgettable 3-week adventure through New Zealand’s deep south in their Family Flair, and it’s safe to say—this trip was the stuff dreams are made of!

From waking up to a magical winter wonderland in Tekapo (with a record overnight low of -5.7°C ) to enjoying a warm and cosy 18.7°C inside thanks to their diesel heater, their setup didn’t skip a beat. The girls were in heaven playing in the snow, and the van handled every moment like a champ.

They even spent a week parked right in the heart of Queenstown, soaking in the sights and making lifelong memories. And if you check out the latest edition of the NZMCA Motor Caravanner magazine, you’ll find a special feature on Lake Tekapo—including a photo of Maddy and Daniel with their Family Flair!

Check out a couple of snaps they’ve shared from their epic journey—we love seeing where Royal Flair takes you. Thanks, Daniel & Rebecca, for bringing us along for the ride

MEMBERS ON THE ROAD:

Although weather conditions have varied across Australia several members enjoyed their road trips, and sometime met up with other Royal Flair owners. Such was the case at Childers where Dawn and Kelvin Bowers met up with the Vertigans and their furry friend.

 IAN O’CONNOR ENJOYED THE OUTBACK:

We continue our run along the Gibb River Road, camped up at Gibb River rest area near Drysdale Station. The Aussiemate continues to handle the bone jarring corrugations with ease.

RON SINCLAIR ENJOYED TRANQUILITY:

Ron (Fireman Ron our annual event entertainer) found peace and tranquil surrounds at Yanga National Park during his recent road trip with wife Di. Both had aa great time. We look forward to seeing Ron again at our next annual event.

ROB WILLIAMS – A HAPPY CUSTOMER:

Just want to give a big shoutout to the team at Royal Flair Caravans for the excellent job they did at repairing the damage to the front of my van caused by a box flying out of a Ute travelling towards me near Bathurst last year. Unfortunately I had to make a not at fault claim with RACV who came to the party in assessing and approving the costly repairs.

So to Mark, Carolyn, Mandy and Anthony I thank you for a job well done and I am so glad that I chose Royal Flair over and above other repair places .

Regards Rob Williams.

FROM OUR TECH EXPERT COLIN:

Happy August  Club Members.  A little bit of everything this month.

Battery’s  OMG: a huge subject.

What with the Lithium revolution as per the picture supplied, and a  picture attached of my van, a Designer Series and I love her.

Lithium is very specialised, and, I would read your Manuals supplied, and if necessary, contact the service specialists for advice on lay up procedures in the winter, and most importantly, how you charge and get the van ready for that next big trip.  The Lithium System is a very big investment and I would urge all owners to understand how your system works.

It would be highly advantageous for a specialist to give a Tech talk on the Systems provided by Royal Flair at the upcoming Yarrawonga get together.  I am sure John can cast his magic spell

CARAVAN STORAGE:

Has your van been in storage and has it got a cover on ?   Well guys Spring is coming fast and great weather hopefully for us all. Take time out and remove the cover open windows and air the van .

Look for damp areas, give the van an internal spring clean wiping down walls and ceilings.  Your van just needs a bit of fresh air to get back on track.

CHECK ALL APPLIANCES:

You should do this a minimum of one month before a trip. Make sure the battery is fully charged.

Check all the appliances such as refrigerator, Air Conditioning and the Hot Water service.

If there’s any problems then you have at least a chance of booking a Technician to service and fix the issue.

Some of you might be aware that I am one of very few Trainers and assessors in the Caravan Industry .  As a Trainer I am so happy to let you everyone know that

the Royal Flair Service Centre jumped on deck from the very start and have 2 Service Technicians enrolled in Cert III in the Caravan Rv Service and Repair course.

Anthony and Joel at Royal Flair are working very hard to become some of the first Technicians to become competent in this Government Nationally Approved Qualification.

The guys are half way through there 2 year course and it is a credit to Bill and the team to ensure that they keep ahead of the field not only in technology but customer service and repair.

As their  National Caravan Industry Training College Trainer and Assessor I am very proud of the achievements, and hard work especially Anthony’s work ethic and customer Service .

Well that’s it from me for this month.

Remember I also have my own Mobile Caravan Repair Service and I am happy to service your van at your place to save you having to tow  it somewhere. We all just need a little notice.

Cheers Colin 0427385619

CARAVAN INSURANCE – ROADSIDE ASSIST & VAN CONTENTS:

Recently some members have experienced insurance problems, especially while travelling. Firstly, let’s look at “roadside assist”. Firstly there is the normal roadside assist for those who need help while at home. But, if you are travelling it is very wise to have what is known as “total/extra care” which provides a big range of help when you need it. However some members have reported problems with this. First problem was a Victorian who broke down in N.S.W. When calling the Vic assistance number he ended up with NRMA who told him he had no cover when he did have. After a call elsewhere problem solved. In another case a member broke down in a remote area on a hot day.  Tow truck arrived and driver told member they didn’t tow vans his size (was a 23’ van) . In another case a tow truck driver told a member they towed cars only and not vans. This not correct and I have checked this was 3 roadside assist providers. I thus strongly suggest the following, and, it was endorsed by all 3 providers. Carry your car registration papers and also you’re your roadside assist renewal notice with receipts attached in the glovebox of you car. You then have ready proof of payment at all times. Do not allow tow truck drivers to advise they cannot carry vans.

YARRAWONGA 2026 UPDATE:

We now have 60 vans registered and at this time have had to put any further registrations on hold. We need to check with our function centre re their capacity as we don’t want everyone squeezed in. We will keep you all posted via our facebook page, so please keep an eye on it.

Our next issue will be in October, so until then enjoy your road trips, keep safe and hopefully enjoy some warmer weather.  Cheers:  John
